E-commerce industry has increased over the years, and it offers a unique opportunity for the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) owners in Fiji to boost their sales, revenue, and customer reach.
Business Assistance Fiji (BAF) is creating awareness on the importance of e-commerce to the MSMEs in Fiji.
Twenty MSMEs owners participated in the e-commerce workshop on Wednesday which was held at the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation boardroom.
The workshop mainly focused on social media and digital marketing.
BAF, General Manager, Mr. Ramesh Chand said, “The MSMEs have heard about the e-commerce and digital marketing but, they don’t know the right platform to promote their products.”
“The workshop was organized to assist the MSMEs understand and get into the digital marketing and e-commerce is the way forward for the MSMEs who want to reach out to the maximum customers.”
Mr. Chand said it is important to organize such a training for MSMEs to understand which method of advertising is appropriate for their business.
“This is just the beginning as BAF will organize similar training in other divisions and reach out to as many SMEs as possible,” he said.
The participants were thankful to BAF for conducting the training and are eager to attend more training in similar areas.
Ms. Shanti Prasad runs a nursery business in Nausori said that she learned the importance of updating her business page frequently on the social media platforms.
Another participant, Mr. Joshua Merekula said he learned the tips to expand his four-month-old Lawn Maintenance business on various online platforms.
Mrs. Seema Mohan who runs different businesses learned the importance of having a page for all her businesses.
The topics discussed at the workshop were social media branding and marketing, setting up social media profiles, talking photos for social media, use of Canva for social media graphics and managing platforms using easy-to-use planning and online tools such as Google Sheets and Hootsuite.
