IPA Group and Business Assistance Fiji (BAF) announce Memorandum Of Understanding

The Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) Group in Australia and Business Assistance Fiji (BAF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide for an educational offering and membership pathway of the IPA Group for BAF members and associated parties.

“This MoU seeks to continue the strong bond the IPA Group has in supporting micro small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), and to further support international development activities within Fiji” IPA chief executive officer, Andrew Conway, says.

BAF has been established to meet the needs of the MSME’s) sector in Fiji through the provision of high-quality business information, advice, and tailored business development services.

The MoU will specifically work towards the development of a tailored education program and membership pathway for BAF members, partners, local students, and other interested parties.

“BAF is delighted to enter into this MoU with the IPA Group. It is clear that BAF and IPA Group are well aligned to ensure that our members continue to grow and develop,” says Ramesh Chand, BAF’s General Manager.

This agreement is part of IPA Groups’ continued effort to increase the visibility and support for the accounting profession in Fiji and the South Pacific more broadly.

The Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) was established in 1923 and is one of the three legally recognised professional bodies for accountants in Australia. In January 2015, the IPA acquired the Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA) based in the UK to form the IPA Group.

In 2021 the IPA Group expanded with the acquisition of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), based in Australia. The IPA Group has over 49,000 members and students in over 100 countries. In addition to Melbourne and London, the IPA Group has offices across Australia, Beijing, Kuala Lumpur, and Hong Kong. Approximately two-thirds of our members work in or are advisers to small businesses and small to medium enterprises (SMEs).

Business Assistance Fiji (BAF) was established in 2022 to help and support the needs of the MSME sector in Fiji through the provision of high-quality business information, advice and tailored business development services.
